What is the 120 Day Sprint?

The 120 Day Sprint is a chronological reading plan of the Bible based off of Blue Letter Bible’s One-Year Chronological Plan completed in 120 days. The plan may be completed on your own, with the Facebook Group (The 120 Day Sprint), or with your own group.

Why 120 days?

When we read through Bible quickly, we can more readily and easily make connections within the text. We are more likely to see the Bible as a whole story rather than lots of pieces to the whole.

Why chronological?

Reading the Bible chronologically allows us to better understand the timeline of historical events. We see God’s judgments within the context of Israel’s heinous crimes and God’s long-suffering, enduring love.

Why the whole Bible?

The Bible is one whole story about God’s radical love for mankind. It all points to Jesus. Scripture is best interpreted through the lens of other Scripture, so it is important to read the entire thing. And if you miss parts, you miss parts of who God is. Reading the Bible incompletely will give you an incomplete image of God’s character, which makes you more likely to misunderstand and misrepresent Him.

Why Read with a group?

You are more likely to finish with accountability, and you are more likely to see things you otherwise might have missed if you are reading and hearing from others. Plus, it’s more fun. Join the Facebook group or create your own!

How long Does it take to read the plan each day?

It depends on how fast you read. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 50 minutes.

I’m not a great reader. can i listen instead?

ABSOLUTELY! With a demanding, grabby little toddler on my hands, I listen far more than I read. Because I listen a lot in the car, I like to download You Version’s plan titled “Chronological”. That’s the Blue Letter Bible chronological plan designed for a year. If you listen to three days of reading at a time, you’ve done it. (When we get to the New Testament, you’ll need to listen up to four days of reading sometimes.)

Does it matter which version i read?

Nope. I like and tend to stick with the ESV, but I don’t care which version you read. And why should you care what I think about versions anyway? I’m no Bible scholar or expert in translations.
